You can still have breakthrough bleeding on the pill even if you’ve been taking them for years. Missing a pill can also cause breakthrough bleeding

@Iridescent i’m just so scared because if i am pregnant my parents would kill me and i’ve never had breakthrough bleeding before

i think it’s very unlikely that you’re pregnant, please don’t panic. what’s your pill’s time frame, when’s the last time you took it late and how many hours late? you might still be fully protected

If you use your pills correctly you’re fine. It’s a normal side effect no matter how long you’ve been on the pill. If you have a lot of anxiety about this keep using condoms the entire time you have sex till you learn to trust your pill

@jorts22 my time frame window is 24 hours, the last time i took it late was probably the other day and occasionally i been forgetting to at 8 pm and i will take it in the morning but still that would be 24 hours since i had took the last pill

@stinaaa i’ve been using them correctly but i’ll miss a pill and take it when i remember which is usually the next day

if your time frame is 24 hours that means you can take it up to 24 hours late and still be protected, so 48 hours since your last pill. if i’m reading your description right you’re totally protected and don’t have to worry

@jorts22 i’m still worrying like so bad ive been shaking ever since i woke up and went and peed and wiped and it was light blood

The bleeding is normal. When using the pill you can experience side effects at any time, even if you never have before.

i know how you feel, i got really anxious for the first while too. if you still need reassurance, take a pregnancy test 2-3 weeks after you think you could’ve gotten pregnant. but there’s lots of reasons bleeding can happen, sometimes bodies are just annoying. just know that your pill protects you and the chances of you getting pregnant when you’ve done everything right are super, super slim

@jorts22 i’m too scared to take a test too lol ugh bc if it says positive ill freak out

@peetie_ you’re already freaking out though right? there’s no comfortable option here. if it says negative then you’ll know you’re okay. if it says positive then you’ll be able to decide what to do next. if you don’t take one then all you can do is worry worry worry. and i’m as confident as an internet stranger can be that it’d be negative.

@jorts22 i know im just so scared it won’t be negative because where ive missed pills and i missed two pills last week or so and i had to take two pills in one day

@jorts22 also is it true that if i’m spotting while on birth control that i need a higher dosage birth control?

Nov 4
18:42
@peetie_ not necessarily, spotting often just happens, it’s normal at any dose. if it becomes a big, ongoing problem then you can ask your doctor if it would help or be a good idea.

you said you missed pills. did you miss pills or just take them late like you described earlier?

Nov 4
20:30
@jorts22 both, i missed a pill like on a saturday and then i took it in the morning and had to take one again that night like normal

Nov 4
20:31
if you have a 24 hour window, then taking it sunday morning instead of saturday night is not a missed pill

Nov 4
21:37
@peetie_ if you take a pill the morning instead of the night before that’s not a missed pill because it’s in your usage window. As long as you take your pills in your usage window you are considered a perfect user. However: your body might react to taking it at irregular times by showing more side effects such as irregular bleeding. Taking it at the same time every day is known to reduce side effects. But I do think you may need to ask yourself the question if you’re truly ready to be having sex if you are that terrified to take a pregnancy test. Being ready for sex isn’t just about having sex; it’s also being ready to face responsibilities that come with it such as taking a pregnancy test.

@Yi_eune @jorts22 so update, woke up and peed at about 7:20 am and then wiped and it was light pink right then it was still faded light pink at 10 am, now i just wiped at 5:30 pm and it’s like brown but there’s barely any.. is this a bad or good sign???

07:04
@peetie_ it’s normal, it isn’t good or bad. It’s just a side effects of the pill. The blood being brown just means it’s oxidised. You stressing out this much is only going to cause you to spiral, and stress will affect your body, try to stay calm. You’ve had multiple people help you by telling and explaining to you that the bleeding is nothing to worry about but you refuse to listen.
