Not entirely sure if this is the right place to ask (you’ll see why) but does anyone have any experience in coming off of birth control? I’ve been thinking about it and it kinda freaks me out that my “periods” aren’t actual periods. I don’t intend to use any other forms of birth control ie implant or coil (condoms tho obvs lol)

Yes I came off it in May 2024. I personally experienced little to no side effects, only acne and slightly irregular periods. But my natural periods are slightly irregular anyways and I was on the pill to treat acne so I still have those issues lol. I would recommend you start using condoms now so you’re used to using them when you eventually come off the pill

@bluerose9 Before the pill I had irregular periods so I assumed I’d have those again haha. My boyfriend isn’t a fan of condoms, the ol “I can’t feel anything” reason (I’ve been on BC for longer than I’ve known him so it’s never been an issue) hopefully we find a brand/type that he gets along with 😮‍💨

Why does it worry you that your periods aren't "real"?

@aurielle I think it’s like the realisation and shock of finding out after being on the pill for years

@Styx so many people are so undereducated on contraception (including medical professionals) 🥲

I came off the pill a month and a bit ago and I’m having very irregular periods (they used to be very regular) but that’s about it, I also put IUD so that could be one of the reasons too.
