Out of curiosity, if you have a pet (specifically dog), do you let him/her sleep with you in your bed? Why or why not?

We used to let the dog sleep in our bed but as he got older and had an injury we decided it wasn't safe for him to jump up and down from the bed. Tbh I don't think I would allow a dog in the bed in the future, he took up a lot of space and would push me off the bed and it also made the sheets dirty a lot faster.

My dog used to sleep in my bed. My bed used to be really tall so I bought him little stairs and that helped him from jumping off and on. He now sleeps with my mom in her bed and her dogs full time (I live in a guest house on her property).

It depends! Sometimes I let my dog sleep in my bed and sometimes I don’t. Normally he doesn’t want to though haha

Thank you for your responses, @aurielle, @Yi_eune, @maeve_, and @nrayne! I appreciate it! I got a dog a few months ago, and we recently decided to let him sleep with us in our bed. How often do yall wash your sheets? Also, how often do y’all bathe your dog(s)? I just want to make sure we prevent the bedroom from smelling too bad.

I bathe my dog once a month in the hot months. I live in Canada where it’s really cold so in winter we clean his paws but not always his full coat. I clean sheets every 2 weeks normally!

I change my sheets once or twice a week. My dog gets bathed every 2-3 months tbh because I get him fully groomed and it takes that long for his hair to grow back but I clean his paws and wipe him down with shampoo wipes at least once a week.

Our youngest cat bites our toes and the oldest had crystals and would pee on the bed sometimes. We keep the door closed lol

Currently yes but depends on the dog! My pitty is super snuggly, gets cold easily, and loves sleeping under the covers in bed. She also has very short hair and gets bathed every 3-4 weeks. But we’ve had other dogs in the past that didn’t really care one way or the other or seniors that had a hard time getting up on the bed and were better off sleeping in their orthopedic bed anyway. I wash my sheets every 1-2 weeks depending on how many nights I sleep in my apartment.

@Mizzy_ I only wash my dogs if he’s been in mud or something, I groom him regularly and it’s really not needed to wash him all the time. I change my sheets when they’re dirty, usually every 2 weeks or so, sometimes sooner sometimes later. Hate changing bedding lol

When my cat sleeps on my bed, he’ll choose a spot, curl up and not move for the rest of the night. My dogs will both whimper, kick, and move around in their sleep. They are also much larger so they take a lot of space. I am a light sleeper so I allow my cat but not the dogs.

@flyaway4me yeah to be fair my dog is a medium size dog and my boyfriend and I don’t live together yet so he only sleeps in my bed when my partner isn’t here lmao, if he is here he just cuddles with us a bit but then notices we are going to sleep and hops off to his own bed in the corner
