When is a suitable time to ask about a temporary work contract being extended or made permanent? I was told via email before I joined that the role could be extended for 3 months or possibly made permanent. My contract is due to end on 10th July, still some time away yet but I feel a bit stressed and worried about not knowing if I’m still going to have a job or not. I’m looking for other jobs incase but this one is a really good salary so ideally would like to stay here lol. Not sure when the best time to email and ask about it, I don’t want to do it too soon but also don’t want to leave it too late. When do you think?

I would say the end of May/beginning of June.

I’d start asking around June. And I would phrase it in a “when I was hired I was told that this role had a possibility of becoming permanent and I just wanted to make sure you know I am interested in becoming a permanent employee. I understand you probably don’t have an answer yet, but please let me know when you decide.” Or something like that (that’s what I did when I was a temporary employee and wanted to move to permanent)
