hi everyone, does anyone have any advice on staying motivated for work. I’m only 17 but my previous job i worked only 4 hours a week and then got a new job which is 14 hour a week. I know others do a lot longer but it’s quite a big jump for me and im so tired. I work all day saturday and sunday every week and im finding it really hard to want to go and all i think about when im there is when i can go home

You need a few weeks to adjust, that’s normal. Do you find any enjoyment in the work you’re doing? Because if that bored you then it might be best finding something you enjoy doing. Other than that, sometimes we need to do things we aren’t as excited about but they just need to get done, that’s also part of work life.

Are you sleeping and eating well? If yes and you still feel like this in a few weeks when you’ve adjusted to your new schedule, I’d recommend going and getting your bloods checked to see if you’ve any vitamin or mineral deficiency, low vitamin b12 or iron for example can cause low energy levels and fatigue In my experience a new job takes at least 3 months minimum to fully get used to and feel comfortable in. It’s hard I know but you’ll appreciate the extra money!

I think it depends on the work you’re doing! I have worked 60-70 hour weeks before and while it is physically exhausting, I feel very fulfilled and don’t feel burnt out (as long as it does happen often lol). The key imo is good sleep, good nutrition, having a life outside of work and a job you at least don’t dislike. It is hard to find a job you love, but if you can at least enjoy it then you’re already ahead of most people. Also become friends with people at your job! Personally, I don’t feel like I am working most days because it’s like im getting paid to work with my closest friends, but I do realize that isn’t super common.

@cutiepattoti bring someone with you, just look at them and talk to them while you’re getting your blood drawn, it’s a very quick process and I think it’s mostly mental. As long as you’re not looking and you can distract yourself for those few moments, it’ll be over before you know it. It’s very important you get it done though!
