So im a person that usually goes to sleep early. The latest is around 10-10:30. And I like going to sleep early so I can wake up early and get a earlier start to my day at around 6-7am. But I find that I always feel really bad and annoyed at myself when I go to sleep later than that. Like last night I went to bed at like 1:20am and I feel annoyed at myself for going to sleep that like because I didn’t wake up until 8:10am this morning. How do I work on this?

Set an evening schedule for yourself. For example: 8pm - dinner 9pm - leisure time 10pm - lay down ^ something along those lines

There’s nothing wrong with sleeping in and getting up a bit later, what matters is that you’re still getting your rest regardless. My sleep schedule is all over the place but as long as i’m somewhat productive and get enough rest i’m fine. You need to get into that sort of mindset

@nikeyxo I understand where she’s coming from. For me, it’s more of a physical feeling as well as mental. I like being up and energized as early as possible so I have the whole day to be productive! I also thrive off of schedules and they’ve helped me for a very long time :)

I think it’s about finding a balance. Like yes, have a schedule, follow it most nights bc it is healthier/better for your sleep to have a consistent sleep schedule. But sometimes things happen and being ok w that is also extremely important. I used to also feel like my whole day is gone if I don’t wake up by 7 but I’ve just had so much studying recently that it’s been rly hard to stick w that so I think it’s important to be able to wake up “late” and still realize you have the whole day ahead of you!! Your body needed some extra sleep today and that’s what you gave it. And even if you don’t get enough sleep one night you’ll be fine!!

@Lemongrass_ i was just giving advice from my pov? it’s better to get a good sleep instead of getting up early and not feeling 100%.

What @nikeyxo said, it seems you really worry about being productive (from this and your posts about school) and beat yourself up so much when you’re not. It’s okay not to be productive or working hard all the time…you’re allowed to be lazy and have breaks from your routine sometimes! A few late nights or a few breaks from working isn’t going to harm you. Life is about balance and you don’t want to waste your life being productive all the time, you gotta have fun and chill too x

@nikeyxo I didn’t mean that to come from a negative POV ! Just that a lot of people see mornings and days differently :)

@lemongrass_ I think the issue is more that she beats herself up over not being productive once, not that she doesn’t have a routine x

@Lemongrass_ ahh yes. I do have a routine already which helps me a lot to wind down. Thank you though!

@nikeyxo this is so true. I feel like I also need to start thinking like that. I tend to worry if I go to sleep late or wake up late which isn’t good. Thank you. I will definitely work on it

@Grazydol8 I sometimes feel like my day is over if I don’t wake up at 7 either but as you said being okay with it is what’s important . Thank you

@Awg1 I do beat myself up for not being productive. Like today I am supposed to do flash card in chemistry and I really don’t feel like doing them at all but if I don’t, I’m going to feel worse. Thank you so much. This is so true, I feel like I forget that I’m allowed to be lazy and balance things
