Hi, just after some information. I have taken plan B due to a missed pill (advices by a pharmacist to do this as my contraception does allow for a missed pill in the first week of a new pack). How long do I have to wait before my contraception is effective again. I am taking Yasmin. Should I wait 7 days before having sex again or should I wait until after my break week. The plan B packet didn’t say anything about it and the pill together. Thank you. I have been on the pill for ages and I usually take it perfectly however I have been going through a lot (my father passed away) and I completely forgot to take one of my pills. Any advice would be appreciated

Did you take levonorgestrel (Plan B) or ulipristal acetate (Ella One)? Levonorgestrel doesn't decrease the effectiveness of the pill but ulipristal acetate does.

It depends on the type of emergency contraceptive you used as said above, if you used plan B it takes a full week before you’re protected again. So by the 8th pill. You can have sex during this week, just make sure to use condoms.

@Lilac146 all good! Be aware that plan B is very likely to cause side effects for the upcoming time, some people experience side effects weeks or even months after using it. And it’s wise to take a pregnancy test 21 days after you used it to see if it was effective.
