i’m at the point during the school year where deadlines just don’t scare me anymore. i used to be so scared to hand stuff in late but now i just don’t care and would rather take the percentage off for each day late. which is bad, but i can’t stop and don’t know how to go back to my old ways. anyone else?

I get it because sometimes it’s not worth the stress and is jsut easier to accept the marks off. But just think about how this attitude is going to affect you in the long run. Punctuality is important and jobs value this, if you were to ever need a reference from a professor they may mention frequent late turn ins. That’s kind of my only advice to help you get back to your old ways.

Try and motivate yourself and think about your future. It’s okay to prioritise yourself but you need to focus on your professional qualities as well. Creating a habit where you don’t care or don’t do it because you don’t feel like it is really bad so try and set regular hours for yourself where you work on your assignments. I’m in university and on my work from home days I stick to a 9:00-14:00 schedule (with one 15-30 minutes break) to get work done.

Rather than being scared of deadlines, try to value your own work and want to get the best grade you can. Don't you want your work to be graded on its merit instead of losing points just for lateness? Time management will really help you here. Starting things earlier and imagining the deadline is a few days before the actual deadline will give you those couple of extra days to finish without getting points deducted for lateness. Would your professors be open if you approached them about getting some extensions? I always offered to extend deadlines if a student reached out to me at least a week before something was due, if they knew they were overwhelmed and needed more time to do a good job.
