Should you tell your partner about Hpv? I’m not too sure I have it but I had an abnormal Pap smear which showed mild low grade abnormal cells. Also have the vaccine which covers 4 more serious hpvs

You should wait until you are actually diagnosed before worrying yourself or anyone involved. Abnormal Pap smears happen, not always indicative of HPV.

If I get diagnosed should I tell them? Or has no point because it’s so common ? @mORTie21

@Emotal If you get diagnosed, yes, you should definitely disclose that information to your partner.

You should tell them but give them all the context and information i.e. you were vaccinated against the more serious HPV strains, the commonality of HPV, etc.

^^ this. Keep in mind that the HPV vaccine doesn’t protect you against ALL strains, and also, if you have slept with someone that has HPV there’s a good chance you’ll contract it regardless of being vaccinated. But yes, if you are diagnosed with HPV it’s your responsibility to alert any sexual partners you have, because there’s no cure for HPV. It might be common but that’s no reason to give someone else a disease that they’ll have to live with for the rest of their life.
