Hiya I keep seeing a pattern in comments of say you can’t get pregnant if your a perfect user what is classed as a perfect user as I really don’t want to get pregnant and as a note I do use condom but I read that someone has still got pregnant through that and I’ve only ever not used them twice but that’s was a while ago

Perfect user is taking your pill within usage window every day. Usage window differs for type of pill your on, but for combination pills essentially means one pill every single day, regardless of time. The exact same time every day reduces user error

If you use birth control and condoms correctly then it’s impossible to get pregnant. I don’t know where you read that but I highly doubt it’s any credible source.

@Bcqueen_ that friend got pregnant because she messed up her pills. They did not follow the pill instructions. If you just it correctly you won’t get pregnant. It’s science. I’ve also seen it’s a relatively old post. There is a lot of misinformation on birth control out and about, especially from back then. If something isn’t backed up by government health websites (NHS for example) you can’t really rely on it. There is a rare genetic mutation which makes birth control ineffective but it’s incredibly rare. You can’t get tested for it.

I’m also not a fan of the “my friend this” or “my friend that”, as people mess up their birth control without knowing because they don’t educate themselves. Yet they claim to be a “perfect user”, they don’t even know what that means. They will not read their instructions and just start, without knowing how it’s to be used. While it’s normal to ask for help if you don’t understand X or Y, the responsibility always falls on the user. People mess up and blame birth control, as it is the easy way out.

Oh okey that makes sense thank you so much as I started to panic that I would still get pegnany when I think I’m a perfect user as I take it with in 30mins every day and I’ve only been late by a couple of hours once this week and I’m going to be using extra protection just as a precaution

As long as you use it in your usage window you don’t need extra protection.
