I’ve always skipped break weeks on the pill and now on the patch but do sometimes still get withdrawal bleeding I know this is normal and you cant stop it completely but can anyone explain the science behind it, like why do you bleed if you’re keeping the hormone levels up? Just curious

it’s a withdrawal from active hormones, although taking the pill for 7 full days shuts down ovulation for 7 days, you are no longer putting active hormones into your body

@Maybenot_ if you mean breakthrough bleeding it’s just because it builds up inside you slightly, and if you don’t have a break it will eventually come out, but if you mean when you stop taking the medicine it’s as explained above xx

The bleeding is just a possible side effect of using medication. Some do breakthrough bleed after a while, others don’t. It can also be very different with other methods too. It doesn’t build up. You’re never due X
