I end my break week on the 25th. I have an appointment same day to get an IUD inserted. Do I have to start a new pack or will I be protected right away?

If you had gotten fitted before your break week you would have been fine, as your pill would have covered you as the IUD has time to become active, but because you are getting it fitted when your break ends you will not be protected right away. It will take a full week (7x24h) to become effective, so you’ll be okay once you’ve had it for 7 full days.

^ generally you’re not advised to have intercourse for a week after an IUD insertion, to allow your body to recover/reduce the risk of infection

You’re probably best off starting a new pack, to ensure you’ll be okay, but it’s definitely something to discuss with your doctor.
