Hey everyone. Hoping I could get some help. Has anyone ever experience tonsillitis? I’m suffering from tonsillitis right now and the pain is unbearable. Went to the dr got pain meds and antibiotics. Took the pain meds two hours ago and it has not helped the slightest. Tried my throat spray which numbs the sore throat and still nothing. Took Tylenol and still nothing. Is there any suggestions on what to do for the pain? I am unable to talk, eat, open my mouth. I seriously have never been in so much pain before. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. 🙏🏻❤️

Tea with honey, gargle with salt water, throat lozenges. Stay hydrated. Ice pops, broth. Do not have a room humidifier? Definitely finish the full course of antibiotics. Did the doctor say that you could take Tylenol or ibuprofen along with the antibiotic and pain medication? Do you have a follow up appointment scheduled with the doctor?

Agree with the above, Ricola original cough drops work the best for me, tea with honey, gargling with warm salt water, popsicles, chloraseptic throat spray for numbing, Gatorade to stay hydrated, and OTC pain relievers (if you can take them with what your doctor prescribed). check and see if the pain relief meds your doctor prescribed have acetaminophen or ibuprofen in. If not, you may be able to alternate acetaminophen and ibuprofen. A couple years ago I had strep and tonsillitis at the same time and it was awful. I took Tylenol (acetaminophen) and then like 2 hours later took Motrin (ibuprofen) because then by the time my Tylenol wore off the Motrin was going strong. You just don’t want to do it on an empty stomach. But if you’re taking another pain reliever, definitely talk to your doctor first. I was also prescribed steroids because my throat was so swollen. Which really helped with being able to swallow better.
