Hi! I started taking my mini pill exactly 4 weeks ago today and I’ve been spotting for the last 6 days, some days being lighter the others but not enough to count as a proper period. Is this normal? The spotting started a week before my normal period due date and hasn’t stopped after nearly a week. For others, has the spotting stopped or got heavier/lighter? I don’t enjoy the unknown and would love some advice :) Brand: Desogestrel

Yes unfortunately irregular bleeding is a very common side effect of the mini pill. It can be anything from very light spotting to very heavy bleeding, and can last anywhere from hours to weeks. There’s no way to predict it or know when it will start or stop.

Also as the pill you are on prevents ovulation you no longer have real natural periods. You’re no longer “due” or “late” or “on time” for bleeding, however like I said irregular bleeding is common. So forget about your old natural cycle it’s not relevant anymore!
