Has anyone experienced wrist/joint pain potentially related to birth control? I’m on slynd and have had ongoing wrist pain issues that comes and goes, but never fully heals. I’ve talked to my doctor about it and plan to get it properly scanned if it persists. A few weeks ago, on a whim I searched “birth control wrist pain” online and found a decent handful of posts by people saying that birth control (and slynd specifically) caused or worsened some joint issues. But it’s not listed as a potential side effect on any pill I’ve seen. I’m planning to switch to a copper IUD since hormonal pills just don’t seem like a good fit for me personally for multiple reasons. I’m hoping that maybe my wrist pain will lessen too but it seems very inconclusive whether this is a real thing. My ADHD medication also feels much less effective on slynd, which seems to be a more scientifically acknowledged side effect, but still not listed or well known. Anybody have any thoughts or experiences regarding the wrist issue?

Do you work in an office at all? Sometimes doing desk job can also contribute to pain in the wrists/neck. It’s happened to me

@Iridescent I know what triggers my wrist pain to flare up (playing guitar, hand sewing, opening jars, etc), and the weird part is that it can feel fine after weeks and weeks of rest. But once something small aggravates it I’m back to square one. So I think it’s not normal wrist pain? It feels like something is holding it back from properly healing. My other wrist also gets tired more easily, but that’s probably partially from using to overcompensate for the problem one.

@jorts22 yeah I’d get that checked out! Could be due to the pill, but I’ve never really heard of wrist/joint problems due to the pill. It might be something completely unrelated, I hope you’re able to find out what it is!

@Iridescent thank you! I’ll update whether it changes when I’m off the pill for a while, pretty strange either way
