do the doctors have a lot of outdated information?! i was on amoxicillin a while ago after my root canal and now i’m on macrobid for a uti but i’ve been told everytime i’m prescribed antibiotics that they mess with my pill but they don’t?

yeah doctors are very behind on birth control because women’s health clearly isn’t a priority lol. the nhs website lists what affects birth control and those antibiotics are not listed and the nhs is way more up to date

Doctors tend to be overly cautious regarding birth control and antibiotics. The only antibiotics known to affect it are enzyme inhibitors (rifampin/rifabutin), not common broad spectrum antibiotics. Drs will often warn of interaction anyway because some people may have reactions to antibiotics that could make their birth control less effective (severe diarrhea, vomiting, etc). And also just because they may be going off of outdated info.
