Hiii everyone ! I just found out you can apparently skip your period by just continuing your active pills and not taking a week break Is this dangerous ? I’m so happy to have found this out because now I can control when my period is and line it up with vacations or anniversaries etc However is this dangerous for the body? It seems unnatural to not have a period so what are your guys opinions ? 💤⚠️⚠️💊💊💊💊💊💊💊 Brand: Yasmin

No it’s not dangerous. There is no medical or health reason for break weeks in the first place, it’s just there because a monthly bleed is a societal norm basically. You do not have a normal, natural period anyway on the pill anyway, due to the pill stopping ovulation and the normal hormone cycle. Any bleeding you experience on the pill is just a side effect of the pill, not an actual period. So you haven’t had a natural period since before you started the pill. Be aware skipping break weeks/attempting to change your break week is not guaranteed to change your bleeding in the way you want. Some people find skipping break weeks can cause unwanted side effects.

This is can actually be recommended to reduce human error! Skipping your break week is completely safe, but it doesn’t guarantee that you won’t bleed. You may still experience irregular bleeding, breakthrough bleeding, and other side effects of the pill. Make sure that if you do decide to start skipping your break weeks, you discuss it with your doctor so they can write it in the prescription (that way there won’t be a mix up with insurance)!

@bluerose9 thank you !! I’ve learned that naturally we have 4 cycles in a month, luteal ovulation etc So by this logic what phase are we in when on birth control? Since our hormones are regulated on hormonal birth control

@Spain10 birth control tricks your body into thinking it’s already pregnant as a way to prevent ovulation. That’s why the side effects are so similar to the symptoms.
