so i’ve been on the nuvaring for about 2 months now and only recently started using it to skip my periods. for the past week and a half i’ve been very lightly bleeding/spotting and have been wearing panty liners, i researched it a bit and found it was normal because my body’s still adjusting to the hormones and I’m using it to skip my periods and it could last anywhere from 2-4 months. i just need a second opinion on if this is actually normal or if i should go to the clinic ??

Yes it’s normal. Irregular bleeding is a potential side effect of birth control at any time, even if you’ve been on it for years. Side effects are often more common when you’re new to a form of BC as your body is adjusting to it.

Does that website mean you’ll be bleeding continuously for 2-4 months or you’ll experience irregular bleeding for 2-4 months?

@bluerose9 that’s the thing, it wasn’t really specific on if it’d be continuous or irregular, but so far it’s been continuous

@zoay2swag it must mean irregular, continuous bleeding for 2+ months straight is concerning. If you have continuous bleeding for more than 6 weeks straight I’d recommend going to a doctor.

Skipping breaks can lead to side effects

When I started skipping on the ring I was already like 2 years in. And it took a few months for my body to adjust. Eventually I did stop bleeding and would spot maybe once or twice a year. Nothing to worry about bleeding is normal.
