TW: mention of feeling down The last few cycles the week before my break week I’ve been feel down/flat/off. It’s hard to put into words to describe exactly how I feel but it’s just off. I then also start to think about my life and decide I hate everything my job, my marriage and living abroad. There is nothing wrong with my marriage. My job, yes maybe I’m not fully happy there. Living abroad, I do love it here but I am starting to miss home and certain things that are not the same as living here. Probably doesn’t help that I’ve not been able to travel home in 3 years (planning to go home next March). So I don’t know if a trip home will fix a lot of how I’m feeling. I also think maybe the whole marriage thing is partly because I’m not happy in myself at the minute (I am actively trying to feel better about myself by going to the gym, eating healthy and self care etc). Idk I just feel like the week before my break week I now overthink everything and just feel like I want to run away from everything. Is this normal?! Not sure what I can do to stop feeling like this every month.

Technically yes this is normal, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t see a doctor or talk to someone about it. Your doctor may also prescribe you a different birth control if you’re consistently feeling this way every month.

I don’t see why it’d be normal to PMS on the pill though. I’m no doctor but isn’t the pill supposed to stop the menstrual cycle? I’d understand if it happened while on the break because the hormones levels change hence the bleeding but a week before? Definitely see a doctor with this but this might have nothing to do with the pill… could be depression, sometimes it’s hard to pinpoint where it comes from. Good luck with this, take care of yourself ♥️

@Luna91 I think it's still possible to experience changes in hormone levels throughout your pack. I agree with you and the other comments though, it's worth speaking to a doctor about since it's negatively impacting your life, even if it seems to follow a typical pattern of PMS

@aurielle i definitely think its still possible too, i went on birth control for horrible PMS (i am suspecting PMDD) and even still on it i still experience some if not most of it, it also depends on the birth control i think.
