Is it normal for your doctor to randomly prescribe a different brand pill? Since ive started BC at like 19/20 ive always been on a brand called “glenmark” but im checking the pharmacy app and it says a brand called “tri-mili”. I have it set up in my pharmacy app that they reach out to my prescriber. So i dont do any contacting. Ive also been having to auto renew every 3 months for some reason when before (maybe a year ago) i’d be prescribed my BC for an entire years supply. Ive been meaning to ask about that at my next physical.

*P.S. the person who prescribes my birth control is not my main doctor, i typically see anyone who is available if my main doctor is booked.

If the ingredients are the same then it’s the same pill under a different name. This happened to me a lot.

@Yi_eune thank you!!! Im comparing my last emptied pack with what comes up when i search up the new “tri-mili” and im 90% sure its the same ingredients. I’ll ask the pharmacist at pick up just to confirm.

It's not typically the doctor changing your brand it's whatever the pharmacy has in stock which may be a different brand name but same ingredients

@aurielle that makes total sense. After comparing ingredients it looks like its the same exact ones. Thank you.
