My patch day is Wednesday can I take it off today ( Friday) instead of Wednesday so I can get my period sooner? Will I still be protected

Double check your pamphlet but I believe you can take it off early, but be sure to not extend your break days past the allowed days. You should also know it doesn’t guarantee you’ll bleed any sooner or at all; just like if you were to skip your break week entirely. Bleeding cannot be controlled/guaranteed, sadly.

You should not take your patch off early because you need the three weeks of usage for you to be protected during your patch free week. Expect not to be protected if you take it off early. It’s not how the patch works. If you don’t want to have a period then just skip your patch free week and start with a new pack instead.

@Yi_eune I’ve talked to planned parenthood before and they said it’s fine so I wanted to double check. I’m on the xulane patch I’ve skipped my break week last time and it made me bleed through the whole month too

As much as I know you shouldn’t do it because the whole point of taking it for three weeks is so that it can give you the protection during your patch free week too. Same thing with the Pill and any other birth control you can’t just go into it earlier. It’s probably safer to stick to the instructions. But at the end of the day it’s your decision but you should think about your protection as the top priority first.

@xxxNobodyxxx okay thanks sm I’ll just wait till Wednesday bc I did look at the pamphlet and it said 21 days on it and don’t exceed 7 days when your on a break for patch so I’ll be safe and leave it on until that day
