Did you wait out the 6 month adjustment period with each time you switched pills?

maybe try a non hormonal form of birth control?

@Lemongrass_ my gyno told me the adjustment phase was about three months, so i only waited that long. do you think this could be interfering?

the adjustment phase is 6 months not 3 months! definitely wait 6 months before switching again, most side effects go away after although side effects can occur at any time!

@cat_walked Your gyno has outdated information then. You’re supposed to wait at least 6 months before switching pills unless the side effects are very severe.

i would go over your options with your doctor for sure! the adjustment period is needed so your body can get used to the pill. since you seem to not be reacting well to the hormones, have you considered a copper iud if the pill doesn’t work for you?

@teamedward i have, but i'm anemic so i would be worried for the heavier periods.

you could also talk about getting medicine to help with the nausea. I frequently get nauseous due to chronic illness and i have a prescription for ondansetron

and you can try eating more calorie dense foods since you aren't able to eat much

Maybe a iud/implant would be better

@nikeyxo @Lemongrass_ Is there any reliable source which actually says the adjustment period is 6 months? I’ve only ever heard 3 months except for on this app and the NHS website states a ‘few’ months too?

@Awg1 i’ve seen the majority of the users on here say that and from personal experience it took me that long to adjust to my previous birth control x

I think the norm is around 3 months though, I’ve not heard of it taking 6 much at all. The NHS website says ‘it can cause temporary side effects at first, such as headaches, nausea, breast tenderness and mood swings – if these do not go after a few months, it may help to change to a different pill’ so I think it’s best to follow that recommendation x

@Awg1 i do agree, i’ve seen most users say 6 months so i went with that but thank you for correcting! x

@nikeyxo No worries, wasn’t sure if there was a study posted that I had missed x

@Awg1 With any birth control I’ve always seen the adjustment period was 3-6 months. I guess the only reason for that is it took my body around 6 months to adjust. Sorry for misleading !
