I just got prescribed birth control to regulate my periods, kinda nervous to start them. What should I expect? Any tips?

I’d suggest doing some research on the NHS website regarding side effects !

@Lemongrass_ @Kitarah thank youuu!! I just did a bit of research and it helped 😁 I just couldn’t find one thing. Do you know if I have to be on the pill for practically the rest of my life? Or after my period regulates can I stop taking birth control?

@Excavator hormonal birth control stops your natural cycle. Therefore you do NOT experience a real natural period while on hormonal BC, any bleeding is a side effect of the BC/synthetic bleeding. The pill isn’t actually regulating your natural periods, it’s stopping them entirely. If you stop taking the pill your natural cycle will most likely return to what it used to be yes.

@bluerose9 thanks for letting me know! Are you aware of anything that would help regulate my natural cycle? Or is birth control the only option?

@Excavator I’m not aware of anything sorry, would be worth doing a little research and seeing if there’s anything out there x

@Excavator I don’t believe there’s anything holistic proven to regulate cycles. There is the option to take progesterone pills once a month for 7 days which is less often than taking birth control. I’d suggest speaking with a doctor and asking about your natural cycle if you want to go down that route
