It's not uncommon for symptoms of a yeast infection to persist or even worsen temporarily after taking Fluconazole, especially within the first few days which was my case. Some people may experience increased itching or discomfort as the medication starts to work and the yeast begins to die off. The "cottage cheese" discharge is also a typical symptom of a yeast infection. However, if you are still experiencing significant discomfort or if your symptoms seem to be getting worse rather than better after a few days, it’s important to consult with a healthcare professional. They can provide guidance on whether a second dose of Fluconazole is appropriate or if another treatment might be necessary. In the meantime, stay away from scented soaps, douches, and other products that can irritate the vaginal area and keep the area dry, as moisture can exacerbate yeast infections. If your symptoms do not improve or if you develop new symptoms, please reach out to a healthcare provider for further evaluation.
