Hey! So my boyfriend of 4 years is going in the marines in January. I am looking for a sentimental gift for Christmas which he will be able to take with him during his training period. Any ideas would be appreciated xx

I don’t know if he would be able to wear one but I got my guy a necklace with my initials and our anniversary! (He’s not in the military!) You could also do this as a bracelet

I have a friend who was in a ldr for a while and she stitched her and his initials into jumpers and socks that she got for him. I thought that it was a really sweet touch to a gift that made clothes feel a lot more personal. She’d just do it on the inside of the sleeve or behind the collar or shirts s and small spots that weren’t obvious but you’d see them when getting dressed.

Hey, just some smol nuggets from someone who was military...if you get him something like a necklace, bracelet, or ring please do not expect him to be able to wear it all the time. He may not be able to wear it in uniform at all depending on the color. Jewelry standards, grooming standards, and uniform standards are extremely high in the military-especially the Marine Corps. That also goes for the sentiment that @Shaniqwa suggested. It’s a lovely gesture but is more feasible to do for his civilian clothes: the clothes he would wear outside of uniforms (not the ones he wears to boot camp. Please don’t sew anything into those. He will get punished). And please do not sew anything into his uniforms when he gets them. Marines regularly get checked by their superiors for unauthorized items on their uniforms (which could be anything as little as a literal string on a pocket) and he will get punished for it. Just thought I’d put that nugget of information out there in case you or anyone needs to see it. That all may/may not make sense now but it sure will when he gets out of Bootcamp. 🤗

Also just realized that you not be American...I only know about American military standards but please be aware that those standards may be the same/similar in different countries
