Letting a friend crash So my husband is in a graduate program and one of his/our friends recently got in an argument with her roommate. She got in this argument on Wednesday (6/10) and I offered for her to come and crash with us while she gave her roommate some space. She is now still here 6/18. Is it just me or does that seem excessive for a roommate argument?

Also is it understandable that I’m starting to get upset with her being here? I offered because I thought it would be through the weekend at the max due to it just being a spat.

Yes that’s way too long, I would tell her she needs to leave (as nicely as possible). It’s annoying that some people take advantage of you being kind

This is the kind of situation where you need to communicate clearly and upfront. You *assumed* it would just be through the weekend but did you ever tell her "you can stay with us through the weekend"? She clearly had a very different idea of how long she could stay. You can tell her you're not able to host visitors for that long or give her 1-2 days to go back.

Yeah have you spoken with her about this? Like been like hey when are you going back home? Or how long do you expect to crash here?

We had a conversation on Tuesday asking her what her plan was and she still sounded like she didn’t have one. We told her we needed the room back by the weekend and she agreed. She said she was going to leave Thursday. Then on Thursday she said Friday. So now we’re giving her til tomorrow morning and then after that we’re officially kicking her out since we said through the weekend.

It’s our fault for not setting a deadline for her to leave and assuming it would just be through the weekend but now we know!
