Tw: fitness/eating Those of you that go to the gym, what’s your ideal workout routine? What should I be eating before I go and after? I just signed up for the gym a few weeks ago and still trying to figure out a plan and what to eat. I did however get a training day and was able to feel confident but maybe not that confident now that I’m still trying to figure out everything and also when to go

I’ve always done a rotation of what I work out so everything’s even. It depends on what you want to do. I used to do a cardio day, an arm day, a leg day, etc (with light cardio on the other days). I cut out soda of any kind for years, and tried to do water. I’m not doing it right now, but it worked for a while. I always used to eat afterwards, as well. It depends what time you go, but I went early morning then would try to eat something like eggs for breakfast after.

I mostly do cardio like running so ideally I will eat 2 hours before so I can be fueled and have energy but I don't eat right before otherwise I get cramps. I don't think there are hard and fast rules just do what works for you i.e. if you know working out on a full stomach is uncomfortable for you then don't eat a ton right before, or if you find out you perform better in workouts with some fuel, have some carbs beforehand.

I do a leg day, a push day, and a pull day. I don’t usually eat before the gym specifically but I do try to eat some sort of protein after or I drink a protein shake after.
