I’m 2 weeks late to my period. No sign of it coming at all. Not even any spotting/light bleeding. I’ve never been late/missed a period before. Negative pregnancy tests. What could be the reason? I’m booked in with my GP later but I’m a bit concerned they’re not going to take me seriously and investigate further

Assuming you’re not on birth control? If you were how long ago did you go off it? Have you experienced illness or stress recently? Travelled somewhere? A change in sleep/diet/exercise levels/medications? Or any other changes ?

@bluerose9 Came off my birth control (mini pill) 12 months ago. Had consistent periods since March, same length/time of month etc. No changes in medication, stress, sleep. Nothing

i thought you’d posted this a couple weeks back but must have been someone else, i believe the advice given was that even though your periods regulated for the twelve months, they are still affected for 12-18 months after coming off the pill, meaning they could be inconsistent till then

12:02
My period disappeared for 90 days after coming off the pill, it takes time to be fully regulated after stopping birth control

Nov 12
12:06
It is not the pill. It takes a few months max to regulate after stopping the pill. Usually 3-4. So that’s been out if your system a while. Could have something hormonal going on, something like endo or pcos, thyroid issues, vitamin deficiencies, etc. there are a lot of things that can cause periods to mess up besides birth control.

it takes around 12-18 months for your period to regulate for some people after coming off the pill @pug_lady :)

@onthepillxo source? Because it shouldn’t take more than a few months with the pill. Depo is the only birth control that causes delay in menstruation for 12-18 months. I can not find any medical site that says 12-18 months for pills.

i don’t know who @yi_eune ‘s source is but they, and a lot of other members say a similar thing :) x

14:13
@onthepillxo Well just because they say it doesn’t make it true. Sometimes misinformation gets spread on here. It should not take that long after stopping the pill. It doesn’t mean anything is wrong, but it also doesn’t mean it is due to the pill. Most docs and everything online will tell you that periods should resume normally in 3-4 months. Depo is the exception.

@pug_lady Wouldn’t trust docs one bit, they are never up to date on anything concerning birth control… it’s important to do your research, 12-18 months is accurate nobody reacts the same to getting off birth control some users may regulate in 1 month and other in 1 year.

100% @seechell completely agree, wish it wasn’t the case though (the docs part)

@seechell I have done research, that’s why I’m saying there’s nothing anywhere that says it takes 12-18 months after stopping the pill. And no, some docs are not up to date, but a lot are. Those docs will tell you 3-4 months. 6 at most. It’s a bit crazy to me for you guys to be telling members to not trust actual doctors but trust people on here who can’t even provide a source for their info.

It’s like the people telling everyone that they need to end their break week early or they won’t be protected the whole break week and that’s simply not true either. A lot gets spread on here that’s isn’t true.

Nov 12
14:20
@pug_lady where has anyone said that?
1
Nov 12
14:21
@onthepillxo I’ve seen several posts over the last few days of people telling others that they need to end their break week before the 7 days is up so they’re sure to be protected. One member made a post about it because they were told that.

Nov 12
14:23
they weren’t told by someone with a high “reputation” on the app then, and it might not have been this app where they were told that either

Nov 12
14:24
I don’t know who they were told by, but my point still stands that people are spreading misinformation on here and you have to be careful what you listen to.

Nov 12
14:25
@pug_lady if a user wants to end their break week earlier they can? You don’t even have to take break day pills they’re made of sugar…

Nov 12
14:25
@seechell that’s not my point. I know you can. But people are telling them they HAVE to do it or they lose protection. That is untrue.

Nov 12
14:27
@pug_lady Ok like you asked me where’s the proof? Or link to this?

Nov 12
14:27
but also i’ve seen you misinform also, it’s just tricky when we all have heard different things from doctors due to them not being informed enough (like @seechell said earlier they often are misinformed and have outdated knowledge)

I have not spread any misinformation. I got accused of it when I did not.

{ECzPFrN2N} - you can take 18 pills and then have a break week on a lot of pills

14:30
@seechell Tagged you! :))

Nov 12
14:30
@pug_lady I’ve never seen anyone here tell others they “have” to end break weeks early to remain protected. A lot of users here have been recommended by their doctors to do that and so it’s discussed frequently but the point of that is to reduce the risk of human error. It does not change the effectiveness of the pill, it just means potential human error may have less affect

^^ completely agree which is what was said on the post that me and @bluerose9 both commented on :)

Nov 12
14:32
@onthepillxo No… you can’t. You can’t take part of a pack of pills and be protected. You have to take all the active pills. I have no idea where you all are getting your info from, but it’s not medical professionals. This app is getting concerning.

Nov 12
14:34
no but you can. as long as you have taken 7+ active pills it’s enough to shut down ovulation for 7 days on your break week, but any sex on your break week will be unprotected if you don’t start your new pack on time…

Nov 12
14:34
@bluerose9 My point still stands that people are being suggested this stuff and worried that they have to do it when they don’t.

Nov 12
14:36
@onthepillxo The 7 days stops ovulation but you have to continue to take all the pills to maintain protection. If you miss or skip pills, you can ovulate.

Nov 12
14:36
I don’t think this user read right, and they were also corrected on the break thing in the comments, so I don’t think that’s a great example.

Nov 12
14:36
you can take a break week after 7+ pills on the combined pill. @pug_lady

Nov 12
14:37
It’s explained in the comment by @onthepillxo {MvoLFrNRA}

Nov 12
14:38
So we can all just take 7 days of birth control and then toss them and take a break and restart again? No. That’s not how it works. You are supposed to use 21 days of whatever method you’re using and then you’re protected on your break.

Nov 12
14:39
no one said you should do it, just that you can- it helps in terms of forgetting to take multiple pills, you don’t lose protection
1
Nov 12
14:39
{0qvLFrN9s} here’s some research backing up the less than 21 pills before a break. Obviously no one in their right mind would only take 7 before a break etc but there’s no difference between taking 20 vs 21 pills for example.

I’m done being dog piled on by a bunch of people who have no clue what they’re talking about but are acting like they’re better informed than medical professionals. You guys are a bunch of bullies and I hate that you’re informing people on here. It’s frightening. I think I’ll be leaving this app.

Nov 12
14:46
@pug_lady No one is bullying you… that’s a big accusation. you just seem misinformed and very passive agressive about it when we try to correct you.

Nov 12
14:49
@pug_lady nobody ever said that is how you should take it, but on a technical level: yes you could do exactly that and be fully protected at all times. Nobody has been misinformed in this thread, you’re just taking it personal just like you did on this {4azjFrNZs} when I pointed out OP had other options to change to the desired day that did not impact her protection. Nobody is bullying anyone, nobody is piling up on you, people are trying to show you that you have been misinformed in the past. If you want to discuss things further I’m sure anyone would be open to have a conversation, but I’d recommend making your own post because this subject has nothing to do with the question of OP.

@goosebumps Sorry about all the comments—but let us know how it goes with your GP I really hope it’s just delayed and nothing else! At least you can cross out pregnancy given you took one and it was negative. 🫶🏾

@pug_lady my point still stands too because I haven’t seen anyone tell anyone else that ‘break weeks *have* to be shortened’ or ‘shorter break weeks increase the pill’s effectiveness’ and any time this topic has come up that misinformation has been corrected. I don’t think you or anyone else is being bullied, I’d consider this a good discussion as I think it’s good to talk about facts and resources. Education is key. Also agree with above soz for hijacking this post OP!
