If I know I’m switching to a new pill in 8 days, it would be best to use condoms starting now (since sperm can live 5-7 days) until 8 days of the new pack has passed, right?

Follow the instructions for your new pill on switching, it will indicate if you’ll remain protected during the switch or not

@bluerose9 my pamphlet just says take the new pill after the last day of my current pack, but it doesn’t say extra protection. and i would usually know that means i should be protected immediately, but my doctor said use backup methods for a month/

If it doesn’t say to use a back up method then your protection isn’t affected.
