So, my doctor has recommended that I start taking a new birth control. I’m going to start that birth control after my current pack is over, which is in a couple of weeks. I am feeling super nervous about this because I have never switched brands before (I experience some health anxiety… to clarify not worried about risk of pregnancy). Has anyone ever switched brands before? How did that go for you?

Depends on what you’re switching to. Personally, I started on LoLoestrin FE which was superrr low dosage. I liked it a lot, but I had bleeding probably 20 days a month. So I got switched to Hailey FE 1/20 (which is upping the estrogen dosage). I experienced less bleeding but heightened other symptoms (anxiety, bloating, nausea). I’ve decided to switch to a LTRC instead of a pill, just to test it out. But all in all, the switch was not horribly bad.

@nicoanstic_ Thanks for your response! I’m so glad to hear the switch wasn’t bad, rather the side effects from the new pill were an adjustment. That makes me feel a bit better

@nrayne hey! It’s understandable to be nervous but I’ve actually switch about five times, side effects can be different one each one and you just gotta give yourself time and your body to adjust to each one!

I had been taking Minidril since I was a teenager and now in my 30s and a heavy smoker (I’ve quit since, it’s been 1 year and 3 month ☺️) I got switched to Cerazette. While still in minidril I had a bit of a high cholesterol and switching pills actually lowered it! So all in all a good experience for me actually 😅 (I had no desire whatsoever to go on a diet and exercise more lol which is what you need to do when you have high cholesterol)
