hi! tomorrow is about to be my first time taking birth control. i am very nervous for this experience but excited to finally be on it. is it okay to start it on a sunday when i haven’t had my period in a while? i have pcos so my periods are insanely irregular, but i need to start it asap because my boyfriend is coming into town to see me later this month and i’d like to be prepared! also does anyone have any generic tips or recommendations for starting (what time i should take it, what i will be feeling in the first couple of weeks, etc.? thank you so much!!!!

Yes you can start on Sunday. Just know that you aren't protected immediately when you don't start on your period. If you're on the mini pill you're protected after 2 days, or combined pill after 7 days. Read your pamphlet to fully understand the correct usage of your medication. Also there are some very informative posts on this app if you search for things like "tips for first time on birth control" or "new to birth control"

^^ also this is 2 or 7 full days depending on the pill, so the third pill on the mini pill or eighth pill on the combined pill

For me personally I like taking it later in the evening (10pm) because I usually have nothing going on. Also it is helpful to carry your pills with you incase new plans pop up!

Choose a time that fits you. For me mornings worked best until they didn’t and I switched methods.

i take mine at 5pm as when i started i used to go out, so i didn’t wanna take it too late and i was DEFO not a morning person and i felt like i would usually be home for tea around that time so worked well for me and still does now even though i don’t really go out
