Hi, just so you are aware, the pill does not regulate periods, the pill actually completely stops your periods. Unfortunately I don’t think a lot of doctors make this clear. Any bleeding while on the combined pill is a side effect of the pill, not a real natural period. The break week/placebo pill week is a thing in order to give users a regular monthly bleed, but again, that’s just a side effect of the pill and doesn’t actually mean anything.
You may or may not immediately notice a change/improvement in PMS, it may take a few months for your body to adjust and improve, unfortunately sometimes it gets worse before it gets better.
Smoking is only a concern if you’re over 35 and or have a personal or family history of high blood pressure, blood clots or stroke. If that’s the case contact your doctor immediately. If not, just mention it to them at your next appointment.
