PLEASE HELP ME. it’s such a big insecurity of mine and it gets pointed out when im at work all the time. so this has been an ongoing struggle for me and i cannot find a solution. for years i’ve had really bad dandruff and dry scalp, and it went away for a while and this past year it’s been awful. i wash my hair and as soon as it drys the front of my scalp is all flakey, when i let my hair get oily it’s still just as bad. i wash my hair maybe 2-3 times a week. and i sometimes go a week without washing. i’ve tried numerous shampoos and conditioners and nothing helps. my hair is dyed, not bleached but this has been happening since before i started dying my hair. i have super super thick, wavy long hair. please give me recommendations :) <3

mine is exactly the same, the only thing that has ever worked for me is the body shops ginger shampoo, literally nothing else has ever worked

I would guess it's psoriasis. I have eczema and it shows up really bad on certain parts of my scalp. I'd definitely consult with a dermatologist about it. In the meantime have you ever tried a scalp serum?

Have you tried nizoral (ketaconazole) & leaving it in for 3-5 mins. Wash your hair as it needs it even if it’s every other day, leaving it to get greasy isn’t good for your scalp.

I had the same problem with my scalp. I used Tea Tree shampoo for a long time which helped, but eventually resorted to oiling my scalp which made it relatively disappear.

I’ve used the neutrogena t-gel and that tends to help when I get a dandruff/flakey scalp flare, does smell kinda weird, I wouldn’t say bad, just not like normal shampoo lol x

@Awg1 i have tried this, but i will also try washing my hair more frequently. i’ve just head washing it too much is bad and can cause it to get dryer

@aurielle i’ve tried a tea tree scalp serum, didn’t help too much, but could’ve been the brand i used.

Dandruff is often caused by a yeast overgrowth (thrush) on the scalp so a medicated shampoo for a few weeks is usually needed to treat it when its sever

seconding @onthepillxo ‘s recommendation! i use the same shampoo as well, and its done wonders for my itchy, flaky scalp. sadly the body shop went bankrupt so they closed a lot of their stores, but hopefully you find it! wishing u the best!
