I had a joint bank account with my ex that we literally didn’t use. He wouldn’t close it when we broke up so i assumed it would automatically close with it being inactive. Tried to close it online but they said I can’t do it without him and I have zero contact with him. Recently I kept getting emails from that bank account to view my statement. So I logged in, worried he may have used it and it’s gone into overdraft or something. There’s a few thousand pounds in there and he’s been using the card the last few months - no idea why when he has his own bank account. One of the last purchases was ‘only fans’, now each to your own but with it being a joint bank account I don’t want to be associate with it / him / anything he does. How do I go about this? The only person I could think to contact would be his brothers girlfriend but at the same time I don’t necessarily want to open contact with anyone close to him. Should I just let it be or should I try and close it? I’m married now so just don’t like the thought of having ties to this

Contact the bank and see if you can just be removed from the account maybe? Definitely do not just leave it anyway. Definitely not a good idea to have your name on a bank account that you do not use or want to use for multiple reasons

@bluerose9 I contacted them a few years back and said they couldn’t close it without both of us saying so. I will try again!

If they deny you service again I would attempt to get legal help in order to get it settled. He’s keeping you hostage/

I wouldn’t ask them to close it, just ask to be removed from it.
