Can I skip my last break pill? Today is supposed to be the 6th day of the sugar pills, but it’s Saturday. I have been starting my pill pack on Monday and it confuses me on which pill to take at the end of active days right before the sugar pills. So I was unsure this month and I went back to the top and took the first active pill labeled “Sunday” after finish all the active pill. To make sure I finished all the active pills first before I start break days. Now I’m on my 6th day of the sugar pills. So can I skip the last one tomorrow and start a new pack instead? So that my pack will always start on Sunday?

Yes, you can. You don’t have to take the sugar pills anyway. But fyi, you should have always been starting with the first pill of the pack anyway. Your pack should have come with stickers to replace the days of the week at the top if you did a day other than Sunday. If it is a pill where all of them are the same dosage, you should still be fine. But some pills have different doses of hormones each week.

It does come with a label. But I started on Monday so i follow through the schedule and after I take the 20th pill on Saturday, I thought I had to go back and take the last one before starting the placebo week

Cuz I thought I’m supposed to take 21 pills before placebo week?

Or am I supposed to just toss whatever left extra before I start the pack? Like for example: if I start on Wednesday I just follow through with the pack schedule and toss the Sun,Mon,Tue pills at the start? So my next pack will be right on the pack schedule with a Sunday start?

@bristy No you are supposed to take the first pill of the pack even though it says Sunday, no matter what day you start. You take the stickers and stick them over Sunday. So the sticker should start with Monday or whatever day you start. And you take all the pills starting with the first one and going in order until you get to the sugar pills.

You can end your break week early. If your pills are all the same colour it doesn’t matter where you start in your pack as all of the pills will have the exact same dosage. If you start a couple days into the pack because it happens to be a Wednesday when you start you will just take those pills at the start once you’ve worked your way through the rest to be able to finish them up. You also don’t have to take all 21 pills in order to be protected, it is actually 7 pills, and if you use your birth control correctly you will always be protected. In order to use it correctly I recommend reading your pamphlet.

@yi_eune You are protected after 7 pills but you still have to take all 21 pills or you will be unprotected again. You can’t decide to take 18 pills and then have your break week. It will not cover you through your break week.

@bristy Then it’s technically okay that you took them out of order because they’re all the same dose. Just make sure you take them all.
