Hi I am on the mini pill, I am wondering if you ovulate on the mini pill, as I am late to my period and slightly worried as my periods are very frequent on this pill. I had sex the day after my period, I take my pill religiously same time same day, although I did change pill BRANDS a few days before I don’t know if this effects anything, just need a bit of advice x 💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊‼️💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊

Not all mini pills suppress ovulation, but they don’t have to as it prevents pregnancy by thickening the lining. It’s very common to stop bleeding when using the mini pill, as you’re constantly taking active ingredients. You’re not late. If you used your pills correctly and swapped pills by their instructions then you have nothing to worry about.

@Yi_eune okay thanks so much, my only thing with being late is that I’ve been on this pill for a year and 1 month and have never missed a period before that’s why I’m slightly stressed, if I was ovulating and had sex does this mean I could be pregnant or no as my lining is thicker?

bleeding has nothing to do with pregnancy on the pill - from someone who hasn’t bleed since last summer on the mini pill

@Diamondsredx it prevents pregnancy by thickening your lining making it unliveable for sperm

no new side effects can happen at any time (or stop) but taking a test never hurts ?

On the mini pill you don’t get a period because all of the pills are active hormones so no you don’t need to be concerned.

@Diamondsredx it can change one month to another, it doesn’t matter what is “normal”, birth control has no normal. Just continue as usual.

If you took your pills correctly there is no need to test, so don’t waste your money. It would also need to be at least 21 days since unprotected sex for it to give an accurate result. If you don’t trust the science behind your birth control it’s best to use condoms, as bleeding is nothing to go by.
