TW: weight gain, ttc. I got off the pill (was on it for 10 yrs) exactly a year ago this month to try and start a family, it was unsuccessful, my period was regular for 9 months but then all of a sudden got irregular and it’s been terrible managing the side effects. I got diagnosed with being pre diabetic, HS skin condition (stage 3) and PCOS (insulin resistance) and that I’ve had this whole time but BC was covering up. Good news is I’m still fertile it’s just going to be a challenge getting swimmers to the egg so might need assistance later on. I also gained 35 lbs in 4 months so I decided to get back on the pill til we’re ready to try again and I get my weight and health under control. Doesn’t help that I’m uninsured now too lol visits for OB and DERM cost $150 each time and i have to go 1-2x a month so BC was the cheapest option for now. This has to be the most challenging and discouraging thing I’ve dealt with in a long time. Just wanted to put my little story out there in case anyone can relate or has any advice. Brand: Microgestin 1/20

I went off of birthcontrol in February 2024 until September of 2024 and in August of 2024 I went to the doctor and they diagnosed me with HS during my first flare up, I had a few flare ups in the couple months after first being diagnosed I had researched a whole bunch about it and I also had gotten back on birthcontrol so I’m not sure if it was the birthcontrol that settled it down or if it was because I read that vitamin d supplements could possibly help (I have other conditions that make it so I stay inside a lot so I don’t get a lot of sun) so I figured I might aswell try and haven’t had a flare for like 7 or 8 months now fingers crossed hopefully you start to find what works for you soon :)

@Monkeybutt63 I did get flare ups to calm down by taking vitamins d3, fish oil, tumeric and zinc. Basically anything for inflammation and it extended the time between getting steroid injections. Give those a try you’ll see a big difference. Birth control definitely helps with flare ups too. It masked mine for so long i didn’t know how extreme it was til i got off and started getting holes in my skin.
