I’d just get it done professionally, red is very hard to get rid of and you want to have as healthy as possible hair at the end of the process

as someone who does my own hair (NOT using box dyes), it’s really hard to go blonde on your own without frying it off. I have blonde money pieces that i lighten on occasion, and they are HARD to maintain. you could probably successfully go back to brown, but i wouldn’t try to go much lighter without a professional.

Even with a highly skilled professional this might be impossible to get the result you want. As red pigment is THE nemesis of blonde hair.
I have natural dark brown hair and I grew out all my red hair before going fully blonde, I’ve been blonde for 5 years now and it’s still in good condition, but I do get it professionally done every 6-8 weeks. Just know it’s a commitment because if you let your roots get too long it’ll be hard to keep it even. Covid root growth caused a harsh line for me which took a while to fix over multiple appointments

You could cut off a test strand in the back of your neck so you can get tested with the lightening process to see what it ends up like after bleach and toner, as there is a big chance it’ll come out orange. This way it’s not your whole hair if it doesn’t turn out the way you want
