Kyleena IUD - my boyfriend experiences pain from sex due to the strings of my iud. I know you can get them cut but i dont see how this would help? I can feel the strings out the entrance of my cervix which are pretty sharp and hard, so surely cutting thr excess string wont solve this issue? Has anyone had this experience before and found that their partners pain stops once the strings are cut?

I have had my IUD for a year so this is not a new problem, and they have had plenty time to ‘soften’

If they are sharp and hard then it sounds like they are already too short and that’s what is causing the issue. My doctor told me it’s better to leave them longer. Mine were so long they kind of wrapped around up in there.

@_ndx01 completely understand, I’d never get another either. It was the most painful thing I’ve ever experienced. Mine actually ended up falling out. I hope you can figure out a solution that works. Maybe the arm implant or something?

@pug_lady i may consider the Nuvaring but im concerned as its oestrogen+progesterone unlike my IUD, and my mental health was definitely worse on the combined oral pill… I really enjoy my IUD, but im not happy to sacrifice my partners comfort during sex, really tough choice.
