Okay so this is a crazy story and I think it really shows the flaws in our medical system and also I am not sure if this is possible. So my sister has this friend who was previously homeless and and on meth but moved back down to where my sister was to stay with his uncle. He was complaining to my sister and her fiancé about this ingrown hair he has on his penis and how he can’t even sit or walk with out it hurting. My sister is a nurse and was like that doesn’t sound like an ingrown hair, call the health department and get that checked out but the more he talked about it the more it sounded emergent so she told him to just go to the ER. When he got there they did an STD panel on him and found out he had Gonnareha, Syphilis, and Chlamidia. But they refused to do an HIV screanning on him because he didn’t have insurance and because if he did it was nonemergent. They told him to go to a health clinic in the next couple of days to get tested for it but he refused because he just really didn’t care? Now he said he has had only one sexual partner the past year and she just got tested and she was clean. So is that possible that it didn’t transmit? Or do you think possibly due to his drug use he may have forgotten his sexual partners? I’m unfortunately not the educated with STDs and I am kind of confused with how having 3 confirmed STDs and having condomless sex with her that she didn’t catch one. Also how crappy is it that the ER refused to do a HIV test on him due to it not being emergent when he is likely candidate for it just to having three present at the moment!

If he is an IV drug user it’s very possible that he got it that way. And maybe him and his partner used condoms?

Tw needles @Sams2095 he said there was no way he could have gotten it besides her and he claims that he has never used needles. My sister even offered to call anonymously to anyone he has slept with to let them know to get for an STD and he is adamant that they just appeared and he doesn’t need to call anyone else.

@sultrysilks_ STDs don’t just appear out of nowhere. Has he not gotten tested before having sex with each partner?

If he was injecting any kinds of drugs he could easily have been infected with HIV. The thing with HIV is that it takes a while to show up so he will have to have multiple blood panels done over the course of the next few months/years to determine whether he has it.

Either he’s lying or the girl he was with is lying. However the test results don’t lie. I would also agree with the emergency room that he should go to a free health clinic to get tested, unless he wants to be charged for thousands of dollars on a test at the emergency room.

Covid I’m not sure if he has been tested between every partner but he claims that’s the only women who he has had condomless sex with, and now he thinks it came from a toilet seat 😑 but yeah I do agree it’s a lot of money for an hiv test especially in the hospital it’s just that with covid no health clinic in my area are open. You can only make appointments with your healthcare provider and he has no insurance and he specifically asked for one and they denied it due to it not being emergent.
