Hiii, I’ve been prescribed the progesterone pill to help with my bad periods and I want to start taking it, but I have some anxiety around taking new medication and am worried starting it might disrupt my plans etc — i have a few busy weeks ahead of me and am apprehensive to start in case i get sudden side effects. However, it’s likely that I’ll just keep putting it off with this logic, so can anyone please advise if this is a reasonable anxiety to have or if i should just go for it and start my birth control?

There’s never going to be an ideal time to have side effects from medication so I’d say just start and get it over and done with. You will need up to 6 months to get used to the pill so the longer you postpone doesn’t make it any better. Do you have this type of anxiety about other things because then it’s probably a good idea to see a professional.

I mean it sounds like bad periods are pretty disruptive so I'd want to start treating those ASAP.
