Hey, Im due a renewal of my pill but have been a little bit paranoid about whether I should continue to take it. I’ve been on the same combined contraceptive pill since I was 16 (I’m now 21) and have never had any issues with it. To be honest it has been really great for me and I’ve never had any side effects. However, I have quite a lot of health anxiety and I’m a bit paranoid about whether being on the same pill for such a long time is going to have negative consequences for me in the long term. For example, the increase risk of cervical and breast cancer that can come with taking the pill. I just want some opinions on what people think or if people also worry about this. Does the amount of the time you are on the combined pill have a toll on health?

There aren't negative health consequences associated with long-term use of the pill. It's quite safe to use for long periods of time. While the pill is associated with increased risk of cervical and breast cancers, it also comes with DECREASED risk of endometrial, ovarian and colorectal cancers. If the pill is working great for you, there's no need to change that. If it makes you feel better I have been on the pill for almost 10 years with no problems.
