Hi! So yesterday I started my period and also started to take pills for the first time. I took the first one in the evening. Here it’s says I have to use a condom for the next week but I’ve been told that as long as I start taking the pills on the first day of period I’m instantly safe. Also, my friend told me I have to use condom for the first month of using the pills, even if I took the first one on my first day of bleeding. Can someone please help? 💓 Brand: Yaz

You’re protected instantly if you start taking the pill on the first day of your period. Your friend is wrong, and the next week info only applies if you don’t start them on the first day of your period (or on the first 5 days, depending on the pill). I really recommend you read your pamphlet because it will tell you this and a lot of other important information.
