I had sex for the first time with a new partner on Wednesday evening / Thursday morning. I was checked for STI ahead of this and was clear. However, yesterday and today I’ve noticed some mild itching. It’s not like constant but whenever I use the toilet and wipe it just feels irritated/itchy when I’m near to the hole. I presume this isn’t an STI as I don’t imagine symptoms would start that immediately but does anyone have any idea what this could be? I have had sex with the same person previously but always using condoms

Potentially a yeast infection or something? Or mild allergy to condoms/lube etc But also not impossible for STI symptoms to start showing immediately

Oh ok interesting - I thought maybe STI symptoms wouldn’t show immediately as it takes like 2+ weeks to show on a test. I did google and some people said it can be caused by friction which might be the case as it was multiple times. I will see how it goes after the weekend and if it’s still the case I’ll book an appointment somewhere. Will also book a further STI check in after the period where they show up on tests

Did your new partner not get tested beforehand? Keep an eye on yourself, because what you describe it does sound like irritation. Try and keep it clean with just water and let it air whenever possible. Sometimes underwear can cause fiction.

Itching that soon after sex is much more likely to be simple irritation than an STI. Most STIs don’t cause symptoms within a day or two. Friction during sex (especially if it was the first time with a new partner or if there wasn’t quite enough lubrication) can cause mild itching or soreness around the vaginal opening. It could also be a mild reaction to something that was used during sex, like lube, condoms, or even soaps or wipes used before/after. Yeast or BV can sometimes flare up after sex too, but those usually come with discharge or a noticeable smell. If the itching is only when you wipe and not constant, it’s probably just irritation and should settle down in a couple of days. Try to avoid scented products, wear breathable underwear, and keep the area clean but not over-washed. If it gets worse, lasts more than a few days, or you notice new symptoms, it’s worth getting checked — but based on the timing, it doesn’t sound like an STI.
