I have been on the combined pill for around three years now. My blood pressure is normally ok, I recently got it took and my readings were 132/82 and then 116/85. It seems to change quite a bit. They have recommended I change to the mini pill which I really don’t want to but I know it’s best for my health. They said my BMI is ok but I’m just worried about my blood pressure now. Has anyone stayed on the combined pill with raised blood pressure?

You should not be on the combined pill with higher blood pressure as it can cause serious health complications. Please switch asap

You definitely need to switch pills as you'll be at higher risk of stroke and blood clots if you stay on the combined pill. Did they provide any guidance on managing/lowering your blood pressure?

@aurielle they told me to exercise more. They mainly checked it because I said I was having headaches and chest pains which now I understand why if my blood pressure was high. I’ve heard horror stories about Desogestrel which they are trying to put me on so hoping it agrees with me

Do as they instruct, many people love the desogestrel mini pill. There’s other options if you don’t it but give it a few months to before changing.

i’m on desogestrel and love it, if you want to know anything about it feel free to ask me (my answers will be pertaining to my experience so may not explain what you’re experience would be like). i do really recommend you switch off the combined pill asap.

How many times has your blood pressure been a little higher? 132/82 is considered pre-high not high and could be caused by other factors if it was only one time, so I would check it more and see the average. Personally I switched to the POP as my blood pressure was still occasionally pre-high (may have been anxiety though) after losing fat/having a more balanced diet & my dad had a stroke at 50, so I had other risk factors. If you experience chest pains & headaches then I’d say it’s worth switching to be precautious & stop you getting anxious over it.
