Hi all, haven’t posted on here before cuz I mainly use this app to log my pills and maybe lurk a bit haha Anyways, I’ve been taking my pills at 9am everyday (+/-15 mins) since April, except for yesterday when I had an early morning appointment and forgot to set an alarm for me to take the pill at 9am. I just realized the same evening at 8pm (exactly), and took the pill, which would make it 11 hours late. My pamphlet isn’t very clear on the time window for a late pill, but I’m aware that most combination pills have either a 12 hour or 24 hour window, and mine was 11 hours. But since it’s so close to 12 hours, I’m still worried if I’m protected or not. Btw, I also had unprotected sex yesterday.. Today I took my pill as usual at 9am and about 4 hours later, I’m feeling kind of nauseous. Is this because of the late pill? I would appreciate some answers. Thanks! 💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊⚠️💊 Brand: Alysena 21

12 hours is 12 hours, so if it was 12 hours you’d still be protected as 11 hours is within this.

and late pills can cause increased side effects so that could be why x

What does your pamphlet say about missed pills? You can determine your window or whether you can miss a pill by those instructions. If you put them here we can help.

@Yi_eune it just says “take it as soon as you remember, and take the next pill at the usual time. This means that you might take two pills in one day.” It doesn’t mention a time window but it seems like it’s either 12 or 24 hours for most combined pills, unless my brand (Alysena) is an exception. But still, it doesn’t say anything about that. It also mentions that it might not be as effective, but that’s it. That’s why I’m kind of confused cuz it’s vague to me 😭

@smgr8rwd if it was a 12 hour pill it would specifically state so. It would also state to use a barrier method if it was necessary. This means you have a 24 hour window and you can miss a pill without it compromising your protection.
