TW: weight, eating disorders, body image Does anyone have any experience with weight loss medications such as ozempic, zepbound, or wegovy? I’ve been doing some research as I have a really hard time managing binge eating disorder/overeating and am looking at ways to try and lose weight and control my overeating habits. I originally thought you had to be obese with 1-2 obesity related comorbiditjes but I found out if you simply need a BMI of above 30 to qualify which I qualify for… I’d like to hear of your experiences personally, any pros and cons you have, if it worked for you, side effects etc if you’re willing to share 💗

I’m currently taking the oral ozempic. It has helped a lot with my appetite. But definitely comes with side effects of dizziness and constipation

Are you getting professional help as well? These medications might help temporarily but you will need to find the core and work on that or it won’t last.

I work with a lot of diabetic patients who are on Ozempic and it is very effective to lower their blood glucose. They do complain a lot about the side effects and most of them wouldn’t be on it if they weren’t diabetic. Depending on where you live, I’d avoid trying a drug like that just to lose weight as there’s often a shortage and it is medically needed for some people. Like @yi_eune said, if you’re struggling with disordered eating habits you should probably seek counseling too. Limiting your appetite can help but sometimes we (me included) will still eat if we’re bored or coping with something so it isn’t a long term solution.
