Back in my home country after 14 years, and recently I ran into my first ex-boyfriend. Seeing him again—wow, the spark is still there. For a little context: we started talking so much that we eventually became official when we were around 15. However, we never even got to kiss because I left the country, believing I would come back—but that never happened. Eventually, we broke up because of the distance. Now I’m back visiting my family, and I saw him again. But my guy friends here told me he’s currently dating someone or idk if is official. So yeah, the idea of finally sharing that kiss isn’t really an option, and it’s not on my terms anyway—especially since I’ll be leaving again soon.

If you are not planning on staying back home for a very long time, then it's best to not approach him trying to rekindle the spark. This sounds like it could be a Hallmark movie if you were planning on staying home and not going back to your country. You shouldn't want to mess with his relationship if he is seeing someone just because you want to share a kiss from not getting it in the past. That's not right to do to you or him and also, his girlfriend.

I feel like you’re attracted to the idea of who he was 14 years ago. It’s time to let go of that nostalgia and the idea of kissing him and just leave it be.

^Agree the ‘what could have been’ thought can be intense sometimes but realistically someone you liked at 15 & don’t live near is unlikely to be the right person for you
