i started taking microgynon30 on the first day of my expected period last wednesday (as instructed on the pamphlet). my period has always been pretty heavy on days 1-4 (before starting birth control). so i started it on wednesday and my period stopped for about 4 days, i was experiencing brown clots and discharge rather than red menstrual blood. on around day 5 of my “expected pre birth control period” the discharge became red and i started getting cramps. it has now been 10 days since i started my period (and therefore my pill) and the bleeding is not getting lighter like it would do as i progressed through the week of my period before birth control. i know breakthrough bleeding is expected when starting bc for the first time, just wondering if anyone else has experienced this too? i take my pill at exactly the same time every evening and haven’t missed one so far. also been having crazy nightmares since i’ve started this (literally like 3 every night) that make me wake up in panic. has anyone else had this too?

It's common to experience changes in your menstrual cycle when starting a new birth control pill like Microgynon30. Breakthrough bleeding and changes in bleeding patterns are normal adjustments as your body adapts to the hormones. As for the nightmares, some people may experience changes in their sleep patterns when starting a new medication. If these symptoms persist or become concerning, it's best to consult with your healthcare provider for personalized advice and reassurance
