Hi guys! Been off by a few hours with my pill recently I take it between 10pm-2Am. I’ve been on the pill for 5 years now and when I went to the bathroom I noticed a little bit of blood but I still have 2 pills left and normally don’t get my period till next Friday which is 7 days away. Me and my BF use the pullout method…. Which I know isn’t the best but we’ve been together for a while but nowhere close to ready for a baby. Is this normal?

If you use your pill in your usage window you’re protected. For the mini pill that’s either 3 or 12 hours. For most combined pills this is 24 hours, but there are a few brands that have a 12 hour window. This information can be found in your pamphlet. Breakthrough/irregular bleeding is perfectly normal and it can happen at any time, regardless of how long you’ve been using birth control for. The pull out method does nothing, as it still comes with live sperm, so it doesn’t matter whether he pulls out or not. What matters is that you take your pills correctly. If you don’t fully trust or understand your pill it’s best to keep using condoms until you do.
